What 3:2 Aspect Ratio Is Used For
- Photos from most DSLR and mirrorless cameras, which shoot in 3:2.
- 6 × 4 inch (15 × 10 cm) prints lying sideways, and 4 × 6 prints standing up (2:3).
- Landscape blog images and portfolio photos.
Framing It
A phone photo is 4:3, a little taller than 3:2, so only a thin strip is trimmed top and bottom. Drag the photo to choose what stays, or choose Crop Photo to move the box by hand. To get exact pixel dimensions after cropping, use the Image resizer.
Common Aspect Ratios: 1:1, 2:3 (4 × 6 Print), 3:2, 4:3, 4:5, 7:5, 9:16 and 16:9.
How It Works
- Choose or drop a photo.
- Zoom in and drag the photo, or choose Crop Photo and drag the crop box or its corners. Pick an aspect ratio to lock the shape.
- Apply the crop and download.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 3:2 the same as a 6 × 4 print?
Yes. A 6 × 4 inch print (15 × 10 cm) is 3:2 when it lies sideways. Standing up, a 4 × 6 print is 2:3: use the 4 × 6 Print page for that.
Does cropping lower the quality?
No. The crop keeps your photo's own pixels; nothing is resized unless you choose to.
Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?
This tool crops by shape: pick an aspect ratio, then zoom in or drag the crop box, and the dimensions show under the photo. For exact pixel dimensions, use the Image resizer, which crops and resizes in one go.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers, and iPhone HEIC photos open directly.
