What size should my picture be?
At least 256 × 256 px and square. Smaller pictures still work, but the largest icon sizes will look soft.
Which format should I pick?
JPG for photos. PNG for screenshots, logos and transparent images. WebP or AVIF for smaller files on websites. TIFF for print and archives, and ICO for icons. HEIC photos from iPhones can be converted to JPG or PNG.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers, and iPhone HEIC photos open directly.
