What A4 Size Is Used For

Getting a Sharp Result

Fit keeps the whole image on the page with a white border, so nothing is cut off. At 300 DPI an A4 page is 2480 × 3508 pixels; a phone photo is usually enough for a sharp print. To turn a landscape image sideways, swap the width and height. To shrink the file for a form, pick a size under File Size or use Compress image.

How It Works

  1. Choose or drop a photo.
  2. Type the width and height in px, inches, cm or mm, and choose Fill, Fit or Stretch. To use only part of the photo, choose Crop Photo first.
  3. Pick a file size such as 100 KB or type your own limit, then download.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many pixels is A4?

2480 × 3508 pixels at 300 DPI, or 1654 × 2339 pixels at 200 DPI. A4 is 210 × 297 mm (about 8.3 × 11.7 inches).

Can I make it a PDF?

This tool saves an image (JPG or PNG). Most printers and forms accept that; to make a PDF, open the image and print it to PDF.

What DPI should I use?

300 DPI is the usual print resolution and is what most photo requirements mean when they give a size in centimetres or inches. The DPI value is also saved inside JPG and PNG files.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers, and iPhone HEIC photos open directly.

How do I get an exact file size like 20 KB or 50 KB?

Pick the size, or type your own limit. The tool finds the highest quality that fits. If the photo is still too big at the lowest quality, it can reduce the dimensions for you.
