Australian Passport Photo Size

Renewing online? Australia takes the photo from a photo provider using a photo code, so you can’t upload your own photo there. Use this size for printed photos.

Requirements change often, and this page may not show the latest update. Always check the current instructions from the authority or exam body before you submit.

By Country: Australia Citizenship, Australia Passport, Canada Passport, Canada PR & Citizenship, Europe Schengen Visa, India OCI Services, India Passport, Saudi eVisa, Singapore ICA, UK Passport, UK Visa & ETA, US 2 × 2 Inch, US DV Lottery and US Passport Renewal.

How It Works

  1. Choose or drop a photo facing the camera.
  2. Pick your country, then the photo you need, such as a printed passport photo or an online application photo.
  3. Zoom and drag so your face is centred, check the size, then download the JPG.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upload my own photo for an online renewal?

No. Online renewals use a photo code from an approved photo provider. Printed photos are for paper applications.

What background does a passport photo need?

Most countries ask for plain white or light grey. Check the rules for your country: some, such as Canada and the UK, don’t accept edited photos.

My application has a file size limit. What do I do?

Set it under File Size. Online application cards already have the file size limit, and the tool keeps the file inside it.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers, and iPhone HEIC photos open directly.
